Fast action on the part of Miguel Martinez and the maintenance team at ACS Flooring Group in Houston spared a customer’s commercial wool carpet from almost certain replacement after a cement-based product unexpectedly spilled onto the floor. Miguel, Operations Manager at ACS, describes the scene. “An ARDEX floating cement product had been used on the floor above and had leaked down through the cracks in the window panes onto the wool carpet.” He continues, “The product was still fairly wet when we arrived.”

The scene before ACS began cleaning the carpet.

For Miguel, the first step to tackling the issue was to call XLN’s Bill Luallen for advice on how to clean up and restore the carpet. Once on the job, he and his crew started with the least aggressive approach which involved using XL Carpet Spotter, a wet vac, rags, and a soft brush. Miguel explains the process. “We pre-sprayed with XL Carpet Spotter, added water, ran the wet vac, repeated, and agitated with the brush and/or rags as needed until the desired result was achieved. All total, it took about 1.5 hours.”

After the cleaning process, the carpet looks fantastic!

And how about the results? “All good results! All of the ARDEX product was removed,” Miguel notes, “and the general contractor in charge of the job was pleased.”
