Havana-Glasgow Film Festival: Extraordinary Cuba Part II

Now in its 7th year, the annual festival that showcases Cuban cinema and culture within Havana’s twin city of Glasgow is set to take place 16 – 21 November 2021

After the success of an entirely online festival last year, Havana Glasgow Film
Festival, which celebrates Cuban film and Glasgow’s twinning with Havana, will go
ahead again this November, in a mix of online and live events.
With the theme once more of EXTRAORDINARY CUBA, focusing on sustainability
in Cuba, this year’s film highlights will include:
Castro’s Spies – The story of an elite group of 5 Cuban intelligence agents sent
undercover to the US in the 1990s to defend Castro’s Cuba from the threat of foreign
attack in a special live screening at GFT, with Q&A with the Directors . The
‘Cuban Five’ have been invited to come to HGFF – watch this space!!
Spotlight on Cuban Director Arturo Sotto, who will attend the Festival and present
four of his films, including Nido de Mantes / The Wasp Nest – about a young woman
who has 10 days to prove she is not guilty of murder during the migratory crisis with
the USA
Special Friday focusing on Sustainability in Cuba – with films, discussion and live
Q&A events linking to Cuba’s innovative approaches to climate change and green
agriculture.

The Festival also hopes to host live cultural and social events and educational programming in Glasgow as well as providing a rich offering to customers further afield.
