Social Media Ads – Timing is Everything…

Just like Google Adwords, display ads, and email the timing of your social media advertising posts is critical. Posting at the wrong time can result is significantly different performance and reduced ROI.

Our early experiments show a clear pattern of response behaviour. In fact the pattern is so clear that I can sum up the results as:

1.     Do post at 8am

2.     Don’t post around 2pm

3.     Not bad around 3pm

4.     Best results from 8 – 10pm

…This pattern seems to be the same regardless of day and also we can’t see any impact due to football games; athletics; good/bad weather. We have tried a range of products and services and range of different style of ads [text, image, video] and the pattern stays the same.

We see the same results for boosted posts or through our SWARM network on AdBoodle.com

Most of our advertising is through Facebook and we don’t have such reliable stats for the other popular channels but I suspect the results would be the same.

So, optimise your ad posting – maximise your ROI- avoid wasting money. Post 8-10pm.

Please feel free to disagree and let me know if you experience different results.
