As our community becomes part of the National Council of Nonprofits, this LinkedIn page may become less active. NCN will be gathering feedback on how to best support the community in 2024 and beyond, and we encourage you to follow both this page and NCN for future updates. Our community's website will also remain as a home for the resources we have developed over the years. On behalf of the Leap Ambassadors Community support team, thank you for being on this journey with us!
Leap Ambassadors Community
Non-profit Organizations
A community of nonprofit thought leaders, funders, policy makers, and instigators who believe PERFORMANCE MATTERS!
About us
The Leap of Reason Ambassadors Community is a community of nonprofit thought leaders and practitioners. Ambassadors are experts, leader practitioners, and instigators. They bring depth of knowledge and experience, passion for inspiring others to build great organizations for greater societal impact, an insistence that what we do and fund “works,” an understanding that mission and metrics are inextricably linked, and a commitment to increasing the expectation and adoption of high performance in the field. The purpose of the community is to: inspire, motivate, and support nonprofit and public sector leaders (and their stakeholders) to build great organizations for greater societal impact, and increase the expectation and adoption of high performance as the path toward that end.

Leap Ambassador Richard Berlin shares the 'Why' behind DREAM (formerly Harlem RBI)'s new Charter School at 20 Bruckner Boulevard:
“Beautiful learning spaces are common in affluent communities. Just 40 blocks south of Bruckner Boulevard, no one really questions the cost of a school. No one asks ‘Why?’ about Dalton or Nightingale-Bamford or Collegiate. But if we can agree that all children—no matter their zip code—need the same things to grow up healthy, strong, and happy, the next question is inevitable: How do we afford it?” Our co-CEO Richard Berlin’s latest piece discusses the price of investing in all students at the scale they deserve, and what it would look like if policy and public dollars truly assumed that cost. Give it a read below. #PlaceMatters

Read the latest thoughts from #LeapAmbassador Jennifer Blatz:
National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) data shows the lowest math and reading scores for 13-year-olds in decades. But I see work in communities that gives me hope. It’s our shared responsibility as a country to understand and focus on what’s working so best practices can spread across the country. A number of communities defy the data: there are places across the country in the StriveTogether Cradle to Career Network that have returned to or surpassed pre-pandemic reading and math levels. In my latest post, I wrote about what these “bounce back” communities have in common — civic infrastructure, evidence-based decision making, and short-, medium- and long-term investments:
In dark times, focus on the bright spots

Read the latest from #LeapAmbassador Hanh Cao Yu in Stanford Social Innovation Review to learn how foundation evaluation officers are rethinking old practices and developing new mindsets:
To build shared decision-making, foundations must put aside narrow definitions of rigor and embrace new understandings of accountability. Hanh Cao Yu of The California Endowment shares examples of how evaluation officers are rethinking the practices of evaluation and research that communities of color have long distrusted and taking up the challenge to experiment with new mindsets, equity-focused evaluation frameworks, and new definitions of accountability. Leap Ambassador Linda Johanek recently asked fellow ambassador Janeen Comenote about what inspires her in her work with NATIONAL URBAN INDIAN FAMILY COALITION. Janeen's response -- and their entire conversation -- is worth reading! Janeen: I love watching genius in action. It is so inspiring to see how humans, not just Native people, respond in times of crisis and how creative they are. I look at the organizations we work with, and they’re just geniuses. They know how to do this work. They’re really creative and are always coming up with a totally different way of thinking or a different idea for how to do this work. What drives me more than anything is our purpose. It’s giving a voice to the voiceless and visibility to the invisible, because so often, Native people are invisible. It’s part of reciprocity which is a core cultural value for Native people. #LeapAmbassadors #NonprofitLeadership #LeapVoices
