About Chevrolet's C1 Corvette:
The beautiful design of the 1962 Corvette showcased a few newfirsts, and said goodbye to a few attributes that wouldn't returnto Corvettes until decades later, if at all! Chevrolet introducedthe powerful 327ci V8 this year and would stay around for the nextseven model years. Additional changes included the disappearance ofthe exterior chrome trim highlighting the side cove area leavingonly color-matched paint and a single louver as the new accent. This would be the final year for exposed front headlights, a solidrear axle, an external rear trunk, and the availability of a powertop. Things were about to change for the next generation ofCorvette, which is why the 1962 model remains one of the mostcoveted designs to have in collections around the world!

This particular example had traveled roughly 2,000 miles since the2010 completion of a body-on restoration, being driven in Floridaon only fair-weather days, along with, continuously being garagedwhen parked. The restoration included a full repaint completed intop fashion by a GM dealership in Naples, Florida. There, thevehicle also received a new convertible top, weather stripping, newinterior carpet, and several other small items to ensure it was ahigh quality driver. In January of 2012, this model sold with29,585 miles showing on the odometer and joined a new, luckycollection right here in St. Louis.
After using his Corvette very sparingly for several years, the newowner elected to have the bumpers, grill bars, eye brows allre-chromed by St Louis Plating Inc., along with, having thecarburetor rebuilt by Bob Kunz, sent the original generator toBroner Generator Service for a rebuild, and also had the Wonderbarradio and original speaker rebuilt. In June 2016, he decided totake this worthy example to the next level. It would go toYesterday's Chevrolets Inc. for a thorough reconditioning with NCRSTop Flight expectations. The engine/transmission were removed tobegin a top level engine bay detailing.
The engine would be sent to Sellenriek Automotive & Machine Shop inBallwin, MO for a complete disassembly and rebuild. This included aground crankshaft that was clean/magnafluxed, updated withchamfered oil holes for increased oil supply to the rods & mains, then micro-polished. The heads were resurfaced and received acomplete valve job with new exhaust valves, all new valve seats, guides, and springs. The block was bored, all parts hot tanked, then new freeze plugs, cam bearing, main bearings, reconditionedrods, resurfaced flywheel, and all new gaskets and seals would befitted. Following this gorgeous red Corvette returned to YesterdaysChevrolet for final installation and all fresh small components, new wiring harness, new clutch kit, Delco-Remy ignition components, proper GM hoses and clamps, new belt, etc. The interior received anew dash pad, grab handle, and correct carpeting from Al KnockInteriors, along with a re-chromed windshield frame and glass newseal, door sill trim plates, along with, so much more!
