Brief History About Chevy's 3100 Series 5-Window pickup:
Developed after World War II and named the “Advance Design” Series by Chevrolet, these trucks were branded as bigger, stronger sharper looking than their competition! These sleek trucks were the number one seller throughout their entire production from 1947-1955. The 1953 design style would be the last to bear the 5 horizontal grill bars, angled bed side rails, and rectangular taillights. They continue to be the most desirable for Chevy truck collectors!
About Our Available Chevy 3100 5 Series Window Pickup:
Offered here is an outstanding 1953 Chevrolet 3100 5-window pickup that has been refinished beautifully in two-tone Commercial Red with Jet Black fenders over a Black textured vinyl interior! Under the hood lies a later generation 1959 date-coded 235ci Inline 6 cylinder engine with improved 8.25:1 compression mated to a 4-speed floor shifted manual transmission. All of which delivers a stout 123 horsepower! Options include heater/defrost system, engine oil filtration system, chrome plated front & rear bumpers, dual sun visors, cowl ventilation, outside rearview mirrors, stained oak bed with matching side rails, door handle paint protectors, chrome hubcaps & trim rings, and black sidewall tires!
This stunning Chevy 3100 example has numerous upgrades including the addition of a power steering system, power front disc brakes, and 12-volt alternator charging system. This provides easier starts, brighter lights, 2-speed electric windshield wipers, functional turn signals, and a modern USA-1 AM/FM/Cassette audio system by Custom Autosound with speakers nicely fitted in the lower kick panels. Additionally, this truck has two interior lap belts, improved handling with radial tires measuring 235/75R15, and an auxiliary temperature gauge to better monitor the engine vitals.
This classic Chevy pickup truck comes dressed to impress with an older, professional refinish of the exterior paint that continues to show exceptionally well, even under close inspection. The interior was reupholstered in black vinyl with black headliner and proper rubber floor mat. All dash instrumentation is fully functional and it runs wonderfully! Upon arrival to the St. Louis Car Museum, the engine oil was changed along with a fresh oil filter, all new spark plugs, new valve cover gasket, engine detailing with new decals, and overall polish & detailing of the entire truck. The cab is super solid with doors that open/close with a resounding “thunk” with factory fitment gaps! The interior floor remains all original and as solid as the day it left the factory with proper locking battery box cover. It should make for a wonderful truck to use & enjoy for work or play!
