Local Social Security Offices Reopen to the Public

Over two years ago, I wrote an article titled Social Security Offices Now Closed. On Tuesday March 17, 2020, all local Social Security offices shut down for in-person services. The COVID-19 pandemic was still new to the world and we had no idea what was in store.

I am happy to write a new article today sharing the Social Security Administration’s latest announcement. It was just released that local Social Security offices will be restoring in-person services on Thursday April 7, 2022. People, with or without an appointment, are welcome to visit their local Social Security office.

While offices have reopened, the Social Security Administration still encourages people to take advantage of their online services and phone appointments. And although an in-person appointment is not required, they encourage people to make an appointment ahead of time as delays and long waiting times are to be expected.

As a reminder, Social Security Administration employees are not permitted to give Social Security advice, only facts and information. If you want personal advice and assistance to maximize your Social Security income, consider working with an RSSA professional.
